Carthage, Knightstown & Shirley Railroad (CKS Railroad)

Departure Schedule: The train departs Knightstown May through October 29, plus Memorial Day and Labor Day. Excursion times are 11 a.m. Fridays, and 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The CK & S Railroad’s one hour, ten-mile round-trip runs on tracks that were part of the Cleveland,
Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad.  Special events throughout the year include a reenactment of a train robber and the Pumpkin Patch. To learn more, read our feature story and visit the CK & S website.

The Henry County Historical Society Museum is located in the home of Civil War General William Grose, which is listed on the Indiana Register of Historic Landmarks. It is a Victorian Italianate home that was built in 1870. The society, one of the oldest and largest in Indiana, was founded in 1887. The primary function of the museum is to promote and preserve the history of Henry County, Indiana. The museum offers tours to see the antiques, paintings, and current exhibits. The genealogy library is one of the best in the area.

The Hoosier Gym

Home Gym of the Hickory Huskers, from the movie "Hoosiers" (1985) starring Gene Hackman and Barbara Hershey. The Gym is available for special events rental and tours. It is virtually unchanged from the 50’s, allowing visitors to experience the history of Indiana’s favorite sport. Come and step into the “History of Hoosier Hysteria”. Donations accepted.

Middletown-Fall Creek Township Historical Society, Inc.

The Middletown Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the written and pictorial history of Middletown and Fall Creek Township. We maintain a large collection of historic photos; genealogy files; family histories; birth; death and burial records; “The Middletown News” on microfilm; as well as many books, maps, local artifacts and displays.

New Castle Fieldhouse

Since 1959, the "World's Largest and Finest High School Fieldhouse." The building contains 81,555 square feet. Seating capacity 9,325.
Home of the New Castle Trojans, and basketball greats: Kent Benson, Mr. Indiana Basketball 1973, and Steve Alford Mr. Indiana Basketball 1983. Also host to a variety of sporting events. 

New Castle Motorsports Park

New Castle Motorsports Park is a look at the 21st century of karting. The 1 mile road course features a 950 foot back straight, multiple layouts, AMB Scoring System, 28' wide track width, CIK Regulation Curbing, paved pit roads and grid area, 22 Rental Garages, 2000 square foot parts shop and restaurant.

Walking inside this Museum is like peeking behind the scenes of a fairy tale. Vera & Bob Sanders opened in 1986.
It features 2 large rooms with every type of doll imaginable. One room consists of an Animal collection of her daughter’s Amy.

Wilbur Wright Birthplace & Museum

Directions:  SR 38 East to Wilbur Wright Rd, turn East on 100 N, North on 750 E
 
Displays a full-scale replica of the 1903 Wright Flyer, a replica of the birthplace home of Wilbur Wright, with period furnishings, original smokehouse and lots more. Enjoy a stroll down “Main Street” depicting American Life in the early 1900’s, and a variety of Wilbur Wright memorabilia exhibited in a peaceful rural setting.
